Leader of Cambridge City Council
Lewis leads on strategy and infrastructure for the city and chairs the Greater Cambridge Partnership Board with a planned investment budget of over £600m. He is also Chair of the
UK Fast Growth Cities Group (Norwich, Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Oxford and Swindon) and Local Government Association representative on the newly created Labour Party Planning Commission.
His professional expertise and experience is in local government, planning and transport, and waste reduction. He has been Director of Planning Skills at Anglia Ruskin University since 2004 and is Module Tutor for Housing and Planning on their Town Planning MSc.
Earlier, Lewis led work on London recycling and environmental protection as a GLC Councillor in the 1980s, followed by leading a team on local government reform in New Zealand, and then recycling and environmental protection in East England between 1990 and 2004.
